Orange For Orangutan Day© Nov 16, 2011

Orangutan Awareness Week takes place every November to draw attention to the challenges faced by wild orangutans and their rainforest home and to highlight how ordinary people can help both, including by fund-raising. To encourage the widest possible UK participation, the Orangutan Foundation names one day of each Orangutan Awareness Week as Orange For Orangutan Day© – a time when groups and individuals can demonstrate how much they care, by adding orange zest to everyday life. For 2011, Awareness Week takes place from Monday 14th November to Sunday 20th November. Orange For Orangutan Day© is Wednesday 16th November and we'd greatly value your involvement in it. For more information please visit www.orangutan.org.uk

Brockenhurst, New Forest

Join the girls at Orangutan Appeal HQ in wearing your PJs to work on Friday 18th November! We're asking for everyone to join in the fun and donate £1 or however much they can afford to the Appeal. For more information visit Orangutan-Appeal.org.uk

Individuals Planning to Take Action:

  • Shannon Fitzsimmons: My proposed orangutan event is being held in the Lockyer Valley, Queensland, Australia. I hope to email you some pics from the event... there might be multiple events. I was thinking of doing the ape joke jar and charging people $1 to select a joke from the jar. I'll be taking the joke jar around my office at work (hopefully), and to my neighbours and friends. And maybe a stand at the local shops and weekend markets.
  • Sharon Williams of Warkworth, Northumberland, England will be selling items on Ebay with all proceeds going toward orangutan conservation in honor of OCW.
